Client: City of Palmerston
Workshop: Grant Writing Fundamentals
Focus: Community Capacity Building through Grant Training
Delivery Format: Multi-session public workshops for local organisations
Participants: Community groups, clubs, service organisations
The council aimed to strengthen its community grants program by improving the quality and impact of local submissions. Many small groups and clubs had great ideas but lacked the skills, structure, or confidence to write strong applications, resulting in missed opportunities and under-utilised funds.

shared Canva tips and tricks to enhance applications
After the workshop series, participants reported feeling more empowered to apply for funding, and several new applicants were successful in the next grant round. The training supported the council’s broader goals of inclusive participation, stronger community projects, and effective funding allocation.
We’d never applied before because it felt overwhelming. This broke it down and helped us feel like we could actually do it.
