Unable to host the 50km Feast dining experience in 2020, Mint Key transformed the concept to the screens. The development of the mini-series was to maintain the audience and its purpose – to support and shine a light on local Territory produce.
Outside the 50km Feast is a six-part mini-series that visits some of the producers and kitchens of Territory icons. The 50km Feast is held on the eve of the Freds Pass Rural Show and offers an exclusive selection of ingredients sourced from the local region. Guests dine under the stars listening to the stories that take you on a journey of the outback; with a menu produced by some of the region’s top chefs.
The production takes us on a voyage of good nutritious food from the wealth creators in the Northern Territory; our local producers. Each episode explores Territory grown and caught ingredients. The series tells stories from the saltwater to the soil. Exploring the waters off Dundee with Jon Hayes from Monsoon Fishing catching the exciting Black Jewfish and into the paddocks at Old Cameron Downs with Eva Valley Meats and their herd of Senebrah. Mint Key with support from PRLX produced six episodes that toured the Top End around farms, onto waters and into kitchens during some of the strongest restrictions.
